who knew that there were so many castles in japan? (shit - who knew that there was even one?) it's not something i had ever incorporated into my vision of the country - had you? but anyway - there they were - and the biggest and best of them was himeji-jo! check out the pics!

a one million year-old lady prepared these noodles for us in her backstreet restaurant off the himeji main drag. there was so much character in the place and so much taste in the food that we rated this in our top 5 japanese eating experiences!
